About

The Greenville Lindy Hoppers are an all-volunteer group dedicated to promoting and preserving historic swing era dancing in the Upstate of South Carolina, with an emphasis on Lindy hop and Lindy hop-related styles, through dances, lessons, and other special events.

Dances, workshops, lessons, and other fun events are organized regularly so that local Lindy hoppers can gather, learn, dance, socialize, and generally have a great time! Look for new events to be scheduled on the second Friday of every month, unless otherwise noted. Although the primary dance style the GLH promotes is the Lindy hop, all other styles of swing dancing are a part of our mission. This includes dances such as Lindy Charleston, '20s Charleston, Balboa, East Coast swing, West Coast swing, and blues, just to name a few. Many of the dancers in our group are "fluent" in more than one of these styles and a few of us can hold our own in all of the above and/or other styles.

If you are new to dancing, then come on out and we'd love to teach you some steps and show you how to relax and have a great time on the dance floor. If you already dance, but in a different style, then we'd love to show you what we do and compare and contast our different dances; we can always learn from each other. And, if you already have jazz in your soul and have been known to rock-step in your sleep, then join is for a swinging good time!
